Many Virginians know the Northern Neck for its seafood, water views, and world-class boating. But did you know the Northern Neck is also home to some of the state’s most scenic backroads?
River Ride 2025 will take riders along winding wooded lanes, past farm fields in their autumn glory, and by historic towns, churches, and farms steeped in American history.
Routes range from a family-friendly 10 mile loop on quiet farm roads to more advanced routes of 17, 29, and 70 miles. Rest stops along the way provide opportunities to pause, refresh, and enjoy the beauty of this unique part of Virginia. And an interactive map powered by Ride With GPS will help riders discover historic sites, local businesses, and attractions along the routes that will make River Ride 2025 an unforgettable experience.
Our Cause: The Northern Neck Bike Club
Inspiring positive outdoor experiences through bikes, trails, and community.
The Northern Neck Bike Club was founded in 2024 to promote outdoor adventures, maintain trails, and mentor young riders. We strive to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can learn, grow, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of our region on two wheels.
Funds raised during the 2025 River Ride will support Northern Neck Bike Club’s project to develop a new mountain bike trail network in Kilmarnock’s Town Centre Park.

For years, cyclists throughout Virginia and the Chesapeake Bay region came to Kilmarnock to explore the Northern Neck during the annual Northern Neck River Ride.
This year’s event aims to bring back this wonderful, scenic adventure, all while supporting an effort that will make the region an even more attractive destination for riders.
